Papillon was also the nickname given to Charrière. My only real issue with the film is the overly lethargic pace in parts, and perhaps a bit of a lack of focus towards the end, tending to meander too much on certain threads. Years later, Dega is made a trustee and is content with his lot, but the ageing, white-haired Charriere cannot be held back.

Pride I think this was McQueen's finest film ever, and perhaps Hoffman's also. A man befriends a fellow criminal as the two of them begin serving their sentence on a dreadful prison island, which inspires the man to plot his escape.
