Perched on the Mont Boron hill overlooking Nice's bay and the Villefranche-sur-Mer harbour, the Mont Alban fort was built around 1560 and was once one of the County of Nice's major defensive constructions.

However, plans are apparently afoot to turn it into a contemporary art gallery, so maybe one day soon we’ll be able to stroll up there and check out the view from the battlements?
