This scene puts a lot of emphasis on the waning stamina of all the fighters, just as Oldboy 2003 did, giving it a similar feel. With Min-sik Choi, Ji-Tae Yoo, Hye-jeong Kang, Dae-han Ji. I'm almost done Stay still any moment from any film.
I can still hear those lovely horns in my head thinking about it.The way the main character tires out and is genuinely fighting for his life in the original Oldboy is something that more action movies need to adopt, that characters are not invincibleRemake feels way too choreographed and video game-y. Theyll make a rolex digital watch thinking people will be drawn to the name value and enjoy the upgrades.

At no point did I not believe he could destroy everyone in the room. The fundamental difference is that 2003 Oldboy is a much more humanistic film that 2013 Oldboy which is a more traditional Hollywood action film.Ever walk down chinatown? The realistic way the fight scene is orchestrated lends credibility to the character and therefore the setting. They are both well choreographed, but the original doesn't flaunt it. Hey, fuckface! He fends off 15 attackers and then leisurely descends to the bottom level only to fight 30 more. Joe Douchett (gettit, Joe Douche?)
I thought the new was badass, but I loved the raw kickass feel from the old.If I'm honest I really feel this shows the difference in directing styles between Korea and Hollywood. The original Oldboy is about a man fighting at all costs to learn the truth, he is skilled but not infallible.
At one point he even gets stab in the back and just sits there on the floor for a second like a real person would in that situation and then gets a second wind to get up and keep fighting thanks to the element of surprise.Min-sik Choi’s acting in this scene is another reason this scene is awesome, he perfectly emulates a man who doesn’t have skill but because of the amount of anger he possess from being bottled up for 15 years is released in a fit of rage.

Its just shit.Maybe this is a really shitty idea, but it would have been great if in the new one they had a drawn out set up in the hallway, and then he just kills them all really fast with a gun or a grenade or something. I also like that there was still some room for humor, like the guy taking a microwave to the head.Interestingly enough, there is also moving camera work here like the Hollywood Oldboy, but it's done in a way that adds to the scene rather than taking away from it. The exhaustion and sluggishness as the fight goes on really sells it.
No words are spoken by him just shouts and moans in agony.
Go, motherfucker! Theres usually a watch store that sells counterfeit watches so poorly designed, its ridiculous. With a simple tracking shot from the side of the corridor and a long take with no editing or tampering. This is one of the reasons this scene is so amazing, there is no need for shaky cam to make the fighting look more real or quick cutting from hit to hit or even adrenaline filled music to match the scene. When they pop out, all they see is Brolin looking disheveled and bloody. The hallway fight scene in Oldboy is not only one of my favourite scenes ever, but one of the best fight scenes put to film. After 15 years of imprisonment Oh Dae-su (Min-sik Choi) is mysteriously released and is out for vengeance for who locked him up, whilst getting information about the man who imprisoned him he looks to find himself facing 25 bloodthirsty men. There is not really any camera trickery or unique style to this scene it uses some of the most camera movements and techniques in film history.
Directed by Chan-wook Park. The hallway fight scene in Oldboy is not only one of my favourite scenes ever, but one of the best fight scenes put to film. Seeing the half-hearted wallkick-to-punch really sold Matt's fatigue.
