My only real gripe that stops this from living up to The Conjuring films are the frequent jumpscares, and the characters, who feel less real and important.

Some great thrills and once understood an awesome plot.

Although there are some ridiculous silly moments or cliche dialogue in this here and there, but overall this is a good movie with good actors who know how to elevate the material. If you loved the first film like I did, this is definitely worth your time, but it's not quite as fresh and reuses a lot of the same ideas.
obviously had more fun making any way- this story contains the film's most unforgettable images but also an anything-goes spirit which approves a tonedeaf comic relief duo rising to prominence, and the inclusion of handycam footage (digital errors and all!). Weerasethakul accepts ghosts as basically being unfixed in time and reminds us that we're future ghosts as well (so time won't matter to us either soon), and great horror films have been made about ghosts that are temporal imprints of people with 'unfinished business' who need their mysteries solved, but Wan rationalises it as life/limbo/afterlife. But as for Insidious 2 it's not awful just overly mediocre. Some pretty creepy scenes and is well made, so def worth seeing.

Very few thriller/horror films are as good as the classics, but this one is pretty enjoyable and up there for a modern day scary flick.

I loved insidious and hoped for an as good sequal, it failed in some parts like keeping to the storyline of carrying on from the 1st movie and didn't have any jumpy parts. This movie starts as a prequel then as a continuation of Insidious. Insidious 2. Rose Byrne and her children are more or less waiting for Rose Byrne's mum to figure stuff out, so interest is more heavily weighted on the other storyline which Wan et al.
I haven't seen the third entry, but i've been impressed so far, so why stop here?
