The Domaine Des Lys is an imposing hotel and function centre, created in an ancient Chateau. Creation of a 25m pool with Poolhouse. This is one of those days.Very comfortable room with good facilities and a jacuzzi bath with jets in the bottom. There are days when I wish that the people who fit out these rooms had to sleep in them. Sigh. Located in Ancenis, Domaine des Lys is in a rural area. ’est entre vignes et garrigues que nous avons installé notre domaine. Because there was no shower. Which I’m usually not first thing in the morning. The rooms are well-appointed; velvety touches adorn the drapes and bed, dark red undertones dot the space. It's a small town, and we do our best to satisfy our clients, but sometimes no one is available despite our calls. The breakfast was high quality, but standard fare for European restaurants. Some interesting statues and umbrellas provided if wet. One of the two is room 20, which I’ll ask for next time. We didn't charge you 16€ anyway. The mattress is very comfortable, and there are two pillows each, unlike some places we’ve stayed. Lovely bubbling jacuzzi bath though and very comfy bed linen.

Located in Fleurie, Domaine Du Coteau Des Lys offers 3-star accommodations with private terraces. I expected a relaxing weekend walking around the countryside, but instead had a quick walk around the car park (as there isn’t actually any accessible ground surrounding the hotel that you can explore) and a very short stay with expensive food that is to a very specific taste.Dear Madam, Sir, We are very sorry that your stay deceived you. The whole place smells like cow dung as there is some sort of farm next door, although you can’t see any animals, just a big pile of discarded car tyres. The food was not good at all in our opinion, weird tastes and very expensive (a bottle of water was 16€). À deux pas d’Uzès, et en face des Cévennes, nos vignes profitent des influences de ses belles montagnes. We were to stay for 2 nights, and thought maybe there was another option for food as the hotel is in the middle of the countryside with no surrounding restaurants or cafes.

The staff at reception were very friendly and welcoming - and it’s with regret that I have to leave a largely negative review, but I have to be honest as we felt that what we were advertised was not what we got. For specific inquiries, we recommend calling ahead to confirm. For the bottle of water, 16€ is the price if you take the Domaine des Lys personalized bottle with you at the end of your stay (it's not only the water or plastic bottle). Getting here was easy with GPS, and I also noted signs on the main road.
So, I'm handed my lovely, tasseled key and march across the hotel grounds - which are decorated with modern art; super fun - and find my room. The whole hotel is very nice, but let down by the details. Unfortunately, we don't know the organisation's day of our clients, and the best way would have been to call us to book a table or to check availability maybe. Helpfully, it creaks alarmingly whenever you roll over during the night, so there’s no danger of hurting yourself while sleepwalking. I zip open my luggage and hang a few items before moving my toiletries to the bathroom - the shower I was about to have was going to be epic.
